Global agriculture is one of humanity’s great success stories, but agricultural production has come at high environmental and social costs. Over the last few decades, many different sustainable agricultural solutions have been developed in response to problems, such as soil degradation, overdrawn and polluted water supplies, biodiversity loss and socio-economic inequities.
Large swathes of the Horn of Africa are currently in the midst of a drought, and around 15 million people are facing food and water shortages. It is a humanitarian crisis with no signs of improving during 2017.
How are the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda implemented so far? At this event, 43 countries will present voluntary national reviews on their progress towards implementing the 2030 Agenda, including the sustainable development goals.
