Agriculture is still remaining the backbone of the economy of many African countries. It is practiced as permanent occupation by a very large number of small scale farmers. The increasing use of agrochemicals threatens the ecological support of agriculture.
FRUIT LOGISTICA is the leading international meeting place of the fresh produce trade. From 5th to 7th February 2014, approximately 2,500 companies from across the entire fresh produce – including global players as well as small and medium-sized suppliers from all around the world - will be presented in Berlin.

The activities of the forum were basically finished already on the Thursday, and the last day was more a day of thanks and goodbyes, and of looking back at what's been accomplished. The goal of the forum had been to create a global movement for living soils, and to give energy to some tangible projects that may continue into the future.
Tobias Bandel of the agricultural consultancy company Soil and More gives a background on how to make a business from teaching organic farming practices in low-income countries. Taking care of all parts of the produced plants through composting is mentioned as an important technique to get long-term value out of from all produced.
