The program includes panel discussion on the role of science and networks in times of populism and climate change, speed-talks by members and partners and a World Café with discussion tables facilitated by members and partners.

Launched in 2009, the Focali network now consists of around 100 researchers who work on the intersection of forest, landscape, climate and livelihood issues. Focali acts as a bridge between different research environments in Sweden and internationally and, together with partners, facilitates the exchange between research – policy and practice. Since 2013 Focali and SIANI have closely collaborated on the role of forests and trees for food security, land tenure and livelihoods and synergies and trade-offs within the landscape.

Speaker highlights:

  • Andrea J. Nightingale, Professor of Geography at the University of Oslo and Senior Researcher at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences
  • Martin Hultman, Associate professor in science-, technology- and environmental studies, Department of Technology Management and Economics at Chalmers University of Technology and research leader of Centre for Studies of Climate Change Denialism (CEFORCED)
  • Maria Schultz, Director of Vi-Agroforestry and Chair of Agroforestry Network
