Click here to read the interview by Marie Persson at FRCN with three experts on the topic of agroforestry: Roger Leakey, André Gonçalves and Ben Phalan. They start off with defining the term agroforestry and explaining that it entails a wide spectrum of perspectives. They were highlighting agroforestry as a possible pathway towards closing the yield gap and creating sustainable agricultural intensification.
They further discussed how agro-ecology is linked to agroforestry and the role of social and economic factors (not just technical) in the application of this type of resource management system. Questions regarding the problem of adoption of agroforestry, motivations for farmers to start this type of management and needs in future research were also brought up.
