LARRI Webinar: “What’s Decolonization Got To Do With It?” Professor Olúfémi Táíwò

For the second and last of our Autumn webinars, 2024, Olúfẹmi Táíwò, philosopher and Professor in African political thought at the Africana Studies and Research Centre, Cornell University, will join us. Having written books such as “Africa Must Be Modern: A Manifesto” and “Against Decolonisation. Taking African Agency Seriously”, he comes to speak to us about decolonization. Professor Táíwò argues that there’s a veritable decolonization industry, perhaps cult. And all who operate in it and other sympathizers and even many opponents are convinced they know what decolonizing means and what the world will look like when it shall have been decolonized. Táíwò begs to differ profoundly. His address gives reasons why more people, especially those who are considering signing on, should join that sceptical approach.
