Cassava or Yuca or Manioc, a perennial woody shrub with an edible root, is the third most important source of calories in the tropics. In the situation of economic and climate uncertainty world’s community is looking for more diversified base for food security, apart from the three staple crops, rice, wheat and maize.

This study was presented during the conference “Production and Carbon Dynamics in Sustainable Agricultural and Forest Systems in Africa” held in September, 2010.

In the last three years SIANI has been participating and contributing to Tällberg Forums’ dialogues on Global Change.

The World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5th of June. It was introduced in 1972 when the United Nations conference on the Human Environment Began. Since then every year people organize and participate in different events and activities to raise awareness and understanding of how important the environment is.
