Land rights for indigenous people and women are receiving increased recognition, though further knowledge sharing, collaboration and resource mobilization is still needed to keep the matter on the table.
Throughout 2017 and 2018 SIANI contributed both in bringing together expertise about land rights from around the world and in sharing knowledge from the Swedish resource base to the international fora. Other than co-organizing a side event at the United Nations’ Committee for Food Security (CFS) and a Sida Development Talk dedicated to the launch of the International Land and Forest Tenure Facility, SIANI contributed to a two day conference with the Rights and Resources Initiative about Reducing inequality in a turbulent world.
Inputs from the conference on ‘Reducing inequalities in a turbulent world’ will feed into the gender strategy of the European Investment Bank, stated Eleni Kyrou, Senior Social Development Specialist at the bank.
