It is time to rethink how we produce the food, fibre and bioenergy that will sustain our societies and provide livelihoods, whilst also protecting the environment. A profound change in how we manage landscapes is needed. The agriculture, fisheries and forestry sectors offer key solutions for green growth, and are central to food and nutrition security, poverty eradication and biodiversity conservation.
SIANI will be leading a learning event on productive sanitation, agriculture, fisheries and forestry for an equitable green economy
ARDD is designed specifically to examine implementation challenges and successes in moving towards a transformed food system that contributes to an equitable green economy. It will take place in collaboration with other events on agriculture, forestry and food security.
ARD Day 2012 Agenda
The event will be structured around the seven recommendations put forward by the Commission on Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Change to ensure that the full spectrum of issues across food systems are considered.
Opening plenary: keynote presentation and a high level panel that provides further nuances on a transformed food system
Ten learning sessions: Each learning event will examine mechanisms to improve access to information and enhance interactions among land managers, experts and policy makers
Synthesis of findings: To be reported at another event in Rio+20
The Platform at ARD Day
The Platform is actively involved in the design and the communications strategy of the event. Platform members have been asked to host one of the learning events.
