Agroforestry and youth – possibilities and barriers

Agroforestry Network, with support from SIANI, launched a policy brief discussing how agroforestry can improve the livelihoods of young people in sub-Saharan Africa.

This policy brief outlines concrete recommendations for policymakers on how to use agroforestry in an inclusive manner to create new opportunities for youth in food systems.

Recommendations and conclusions:

1. Include agroforestry in agricultural extension programmes and target young people as a key group of participants.
2. Youth are a diverse and multifaceted group.
3. Bottom-up inclusion is critical for young people in agroforestry.
