Climate change, the COVID pandemic, and war in Europe all slowed global supply chains, resulting in worldwide food shortages. Crop production is hampered by high energy prices, inflation, and unpredictable weather. Therefore, finding innovative and long-term solutions to ensure food security for all is more than necessary! What to eat in times of crisis? How can the food industry help to reduce global hunger? What species should we grow for food, and how can we make our diet more sustainable and resilient?
These questions and much more will be addressed by our panellists: Aakash Chawade, associate professor of Genetics and Breeding Informatics, SLU; Lennart Olsson, professor of Geography at LU, founding Director of LUCSUS; Lieselotte Cloetens, senior lecturer and group leader of Biomedical Nutrition, LTH, LU; Jun Niimi (Ph.D.), researcher and expert in Sensory Perception of Food and Beverages, RISE. The debate’s flow will be managed by Peter Sylwan, science journalist.
Join us for fascinating discussions on the 9th of May in the Auditorium “Forum” of Ideon Alpha in Lund or online!
