Nurturing regenerative food systems, in a changing climate
2024 was the warmest year on record. Extreme weather events had a severe impact on food systems in different parts of the world, hitting small-scale farmers particularly hard. Meanwhile, Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine and the deteriorating security situation in Europe have led to a switch in focus where climate change mitigation is given second priority in world politics. This together with unpredictable climate change politics of major actors and ongoing development aid cuts could increase the vulnerabilities in food systems, especially those in vulnerable contexts. This calls for more action-led dialogue on climate adaptation and on how we can build more resilient food systems, and to enable these dialogues despite the polarized political environment.
This year’s conference will focus on three themes:
- Empowering the next generation of food systems leaders
- Transforming food systems: innovation and implementation
- Equity, justice and resilience
More information on the themes, submission and evaluation guidelines are available on the Agri4D website.
