The UN-REDD programme recently launched a new online REDD+ training course for practitioners, policy makers and communities. The e-course is an online version of the REDD+ Academy courses designed to support developing countries with knowledge and skills to deliver REDD+ in their contexts. Learning tools and reading material like the Learning Journals are part of the course. The structure and the approach to learning of this course aims to provide skills and knowledge to deliver REDD+ on the ground.
Achim Steiner, UN Under-Secretary-General and UNEP Executive Director says that “REDD+ is still at an early stage, but I believe it can be catalyst and inspiration for transforming land use and creating many more green jobs.”
The REDD+ Academy course has previously been arranged as regional learning forums in the Asia-Pacific, Africa and the Latin America/Caribbean region. So far the events has reached about 500 representatives in 49 UN-REDD Programme partner countries. If successful this new online initiative has the potential of reaching many more.
