The SIANI secretariat is now evaluating the past year of 2024 and planning for new content, dialogues and activities in 2025. We want to do this in collaboration with you – anchored in your interests, needs and passions.
What do you think of SIANI’s work and activities during 2024? What areas and activities should we focus on next year? Your answers will be used to plan future activities and ensure that our work stays relevant, interesting and useful.
In 2024, SIANI work continued to support the transformation towards more sustainable and rights-based food systems that include smallholder farmers, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), rural youth and marginalized groups. Throughout the year, SIANI has continued to build and strengthen its network and community with in-person member meetings (one in Sweden and an upcoming regional meeting in Bangkok) and new collaborators at events in Sweden and globally. Attending to the expressed needs of SIANI members in last year’s survey, the network also arranged online and in-person media engagement, and communication training for researchers. SIANI has also raised awareness and amplified topics around sustainable food systems, for example, pollination and biodiversity, land rights, and agrobiologicals, by supporting and working closely with the four expert groups. In addition, SIANI has collaborated in events to raise awareness and amplify topics related to soil health and youth. In March, SIANI announced a call for a new cohort of expert groups and looks forward to working with these interesting groups next year.
