Matbarometern 3.0

Hunger is becoming more severe in various regions of the world, and climate change poses a significant threat to agricultural production. This necessitates changes in the global food system, which in turn requires political decisions. The Matbarometern (the Food Barometer in English) is a useful tool that demands Swedish political parties to respond to the changes they want to see.

Reformaten, The Hunger Project Sweden, and SIANI are collaborating to highlight how the food system operates both locally and globally, and how food production and consumption in Sweden affects other parts of the world.

Achieving the sustainability goals in Agenda 2030 requires sustainable and fair food systems. Several actors and sectors are already working towards this goal.

However, just taking some measures is not sufficient. It is essential to intensify our efforts to transform an unsustainable system. Farmers are central to this transition, but they need the right conditions to make the necessary changes.

Decision-makers across all sectors need to get involved and take action. The Matbarometern targets politicians and aims to demonstrate which parties are genuinely willing to work towards change. The food system is complex and global, and Sweden must play its part in contributing to positive change.
