During 2019 SIANI convened or co-convened 42 events and dialogues, attracted over 1 500 participants and stimulated collaboration with 48 different partners. The dialogues gathered attendees and speakers from academia, government, the public and private sectors and civil society. Some of the organizations we started new collaborations with during 2019 include IUCN, iGem, SIPRI, FTA CGIAR and CIFOR as well as UNDP.
We owe our progress in 2019 to successful networking, a devoted work of SIANI Secretariat, our supportive Steering Committee and the many partners’ and members’ willingness to collaborate with our network, working towards Zero Hunger, the second of the Sustainable Development Goals.
During 2019, SIANI highlighted the theme of migration as a positive force for rural development. It was discussed at the annual SIANI Members’ Meeting in Stockholm in January 2019, and fed into the work of the network throughout the year.
”SIANI should promote a more holistic narrative of migration,” a suggestion by our members during the SIANI Members Meeting in January 2020, Stockholm.
