A new report has been published by the UK-based International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and the Humanist Institute for Development Cooperation (Hivos), the Netherlands. It puts emphasis on developing and emerging economy regions of the world and gives the reader an understanding of current trends and transformations in small-scale farming particularly linked to youth. It identifies how the agenda is moving forward in terms of drivers and innovations in agriculture and the policy implications which address small-scale farming and youth in a time of rapid change. It concludes among other things that ”new models to enhance decentemployment and livelihood in the agriculture sector must be developed”, this in order to sustain young people’s involvement in small-scale farming.
