Youth
There was a large push at the SIANI Annual meeting in January 2015 for SIANI to involve more youth in the discussion around agricultural development, food security and nutrition. This call was heard and led to the launch of SIANI Youth – an initiative dedicated to creation and production of agriculture and food security related communication for the youngest members of the SIANI network.
On the 10th of September, FuF and LSU, two Swedish civil society organizations, co-hosted the seminar “Youth and Agenda 2030” with the aim to involve young people in the movement for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs.

The 16th of October is World Food Day, a celebration of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organ
“Young scientists need to take part in policy debates and discussions about agricultural research for development!” So claimed a group of young agriculture professionals in 2005. They wanted to create a global network through which young professionals could be given a voice and contribute towards agricultural development.
SIANI Youth held its first event in the Student Union of the University of Agricultural Sciences in Ultuna Campus in Uppsala. The purpose of the event was to create a space for sharing experience about how to start a career in international development.

SIANI vill uppmärksamma att år 2016 blivit utnämnt ”International Year of Pulses” av FNs livsmedels- och jordbruksorganisation (FAO). Syftet är att informera en bred allmänhet om baljväxternas nyttiga egenskaper och hur de kan bidra till en bättre värld.

The NYPA is a fast-track on the job training and learning programme.
