Youth
There was a large push at the SIANI Annual meeting in January 2015 for SIANI to involve more youth in the discussion around agricultural development, food security and nutrition. This call was heard and led to the launch of SIANI Youth – an initiative dedicated to creation and production of agriculture and food security related communication for the youngest members of the SIANI network.
One of the main recommendations from the SIANI Annual meeting in January 2015 was to identify the ways to involve more youth in the discussion around agricultural development in general and in the SIANI network in particular.
SIANI strives for diversity of perspectives and broad actor representation in our network. We are currently working on identifying the ways to involve more youth in the discussion around agricultural development in general and in our network in particular. It was also one of the recommendations that came out of the SIANI Annual Meeting in January 2015.
GreeNudge are researching how principles from behavioural economics, such as “nudging”, can influence decision-making and preferences around sustainable foods. They are now looking for students in Sweden and Norway who would like to assist with the data collection for these studies.
Youth Will is an interactive online conversation hosted by Devex in partnership with Chemonics, The Commonwealth Secretariat, The MasterCard Foundation and UN-Habitat. The campaign will launch a new theme each week over the next month relating to youth around the globe and their power to be change-makers today as well as in the future.
In the spirit of FAO’s International Year of Family Farming the Swedish celebration of the World Food Day in Stockholm put young farmers in the center and highlighted their importance for sufficient food supply for the growing global population now and in the future.
