Youth
There was a large push at the SIANI Annual meeting in January 2015 for SIANI to involve more youth in the discussion around agricultural development, food security and nutrition. This call was heard and led to the launch of SIANI Youth – an initiative dedicated to creation and production of agriculture and food security related communication for the youngest members of the SIANI network.
Why do Thai farmers work hard and are yet still poor? Why depression and helplessness are usually in the thoughts of Thai farmers? Is there a way to make any change? These are questions that I kept asking to myself since to be a rice farmer would be my dream job!
Cocoa farming was introduced in the Mount Fako region of Cameroon in 1886 by the Germans with the aim of supplying their local factories with raw materials (cocoa beans). They owned and managed vast hectares of cocoa plantations which were worked forcefully by indigenous slaves.
